Colton in the Park with Diamonds

C: Wouldn't it be nice if we had a dog rack to put the dogs?
Me: That's usually frowned upon.

Colton finds a plastic diamond at the park ~
C: MOM!  How would you like to be rich?

C: MOM!  Hold my diamond so I can go play!

C: I knew there was buried treasure there, because there was a hole.

C: I can tell it's real, because when I rinsed it off, I saw it was real!

C: I'm richer than you!
Me: Yeah?  What are you going to do with all your riches?
C: Buy stuff, and pay bills.
Me: What bills does a 6 year old have?
C: When people make you pay stuff to buy stuff.
Me: Yeah, that's usually how that works.
C: Like when Dad bought my bear and took money out of my wallet.
Me: Like when you paid Dad back for buying the bear?
C: It's not fair that people take your money for no good reason!
Me: He had a good reason, you were paying him back!

C: I have $501.10 and do you know how much that is?
Me: $501.10.  And what are you doing to do with all your riches?
C: Buy Skylanders and stuffed animals.  I can buy 14 Skylanders and 19 stuffed animals before I'm poor.

The Winter of Colton's Discontent

Me: Sarah will be here in a little bit.  Jason and Jordan are going to the dump.
C: Aww, but I wanted to go to the dump!  Maybe they'll go again tomorrow.

C: Mom? Can we take your car tomorrow?
Me: Sure, I guess.  Why?
C: So we can have the new mints Dad bought.

C: YAY! I'm so excited for winter!
Me: Why?
C: Because it's almost Christmas.
Me: And why are you excited about Christmas?
C: I might get another Skylander! Unless I have them all by then.
Dad: God help us when he DOES actually have all the Skylanders...

C: You know what I learned about homework? I don't have to read to you.
Me: You can read to us, or we can read to you. It all counts.
C: Good, because I don't really like reading.
Me: I like it when you read to me.
C: Well, I don't.
Me: I'll make you a deal, I'll read half and you can read half.
C: THAT'S NOT FAIR!
Me: It's not up for discussion.
C: YES IT IS!
...
C: What are you doing?
Me: Writing to your dad.  You would know if you liked reading.

Colton Is on to Me

Me: DON'T DROP THE BABY!
C: Mom? I'm hungry!  When can I have lunch?
Me: You can't have anything right now.
C: Why?
Me: Because you dropped the baby.
C: I decided to stop dropping the baby.
No babies were harmed in the making of this post.

C: Why does there have to be a leak?!  'Cause I'm DONE with only having pancakes, waffles, and milk & cereal for breakfast.
Major plumbing disaster at our house has left us without a stove & microwave.

C: Is today a donut day?

Me: I was very impressed with how much you ran at your school's fund run!
C: And did I run so much that some of that money comes to me?
Me: No, it all goes to the school, bud.
C: BUT IT'S NOT FAIR! YOU'RE JUST MAKING ME UNHAPPY THAT PEOPLE DON'T JUST GIVE ME MONEY!  *sob*
C had a rough day.

C: Why do I always have to have a bribe to do things I don't want to do?
Kid is too smart.

Colton Picks a Pumpkin

Corn Maze
Playing in the corn pit ~ C kept stopping to dump out his boots after this.
Bounce house!
Duck races!
C: I wanna try that!
Barrel train ride
Face-painting
Wagon ride grimace?
Pumpkin Cannon!

Colton pulled those bad boys all the way to the car!
We'll carve them a little closer to Halloween, but I wanted to go
to the patch, and this was the only open weekend!
C: That's the whole Earth, right?
Me: No, that's Firefox.
Hahaha!
9 days before little brothers' arrival!

Colton Makes Cookies

C: This hockey practice keeps making me tired!

Good practice today!  It was the start of a new session, so it was free skate for most of the first half.  C did a ton of skating, but then got tired during the second half and kept wanting to come off the ice every time he passed the door.  And twice brought me some stuff from the ice (a "doh" and a piece of plastic).  I had to let him know he wasn't responsible for cleaning the ice.   Dohs=what he started calling dog fur tumbleweeds as a babe.  LOL

C: I will check the cookies and tell you when they're nummy!
We made Opa's famous peanut butter & chocolate chip cookies.

C: You have to do everything you can do because you can!
Sage advice.

C: Why is this your house?
Me: Because Dad & I bought it.
C: What if I buyed it?
Me: Then you could live here too.
C: I will!  And then you can live with me! Is that nice of me?
Me: Yes, very nice.

C: Do we have two high chairs?
Me: We'll get another one.
C: Can the babies fit in one?
Me: Nope, we'll need another chair eventually.
C: We could just hold one baby on our lap.
Me: Then how would you eat?
C: I would just give the baby to you.
I see.

Colton Is Not Tired

Me: Tired, buddy?
C: No.
Right.
C: I am too tired for pictures.

C: Tonight I am dirty and need a bath.
C: Mom, tonight I'm not gonna scrap your engine!
Well, thank goodness.

9pm & Colton has been asleep for about an hour ~
C: MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Me: What's up, buddy?
C: I am sad.
Me: Why are you sad? Do you need a hug?
C: No, I have been working all day.
Me: Here, let me give you a hug and tuck you back in.  Night, buddy.
C: Night, Mom.

Eat, Sleep & Breathe Thomas

Sleeping with "the news" (Thomas catalog) - 10/2
C: What way should my train go?
Me: North.
C: It can't go North because it has to go straight.

Playing "hide & seek" - 10/3
C: Mommy, I am going slow today.
Me: You're going slow?  How come?
C: I'm going slow because I need some more water.

Colton is thoughtful  10/3
C: GRRRRR!
Sbux Barista: Are you going to be a tiger for Halloween?
C: No, I am going to the train store!

C: The train store is next to the re-puter store!
C: Mom, don't tell me!  MOM BE QUIET!  WE DON'T WANT TO WAKE THE NEIGHBORS!
(as he's yelling...)
