Finger painting with Dad

Me: Climb up & get in, it's time to go!
C: Grrrrrr!  Mom, I growled at you and annoyed you.
Why yes, you did annoy me!

Me: We'll finger paint when I get home tonight.

C: Can we finger paint now?

Me: Have I left?

C: But Mom...when are you gonna leave?

Me: Gee thanks, love you too.

Me: Did you have a good day?

C: *mumble*

Me: What?

C: I already telled you!  You didn't understand what I was saying!

Me: Right, that's why I asked again.

Colton Goes Fishing

Grandma: Who are all these presents for?
C: Some are for me, and some are for my babies!

On getting up ~
C: You just have to get down and then get right back up again!

C: I will be your helper!  Let me hold your hand so I can pull you up the stairs! 

Fishing w/ Granddad

C: Why didn't we catch any fish when we went fishing?
Granddad: I don't know.  Maybe they just weren't biting, or maybe we had the wrong kind of donuts. 

C: Can I rewind it now?  (reel in the line)

C: How tall will I be when I'm 16?
Me: Taller than me!

Colton Might Be Annoying

C: Stop saying that or I will have to annoy you!

C: Hey Dad? Cartman smells stinky!

C: I'm going to have dessert for dessert!

C: I'm excited for hockey!

Great night again on the ice.....look who's up!  He stood up on the ice a half dozen times and even skated a few feet!

Colton Goes Hiking

C: Mom, do you like rainbows?
Me: I do, but I need some sunshine.
C: Me too.  We've been waiting really hard for weeks!
Me: I know.

C: ¡Vámanos! (going up the hill)

Me: That was a good hike!  I enjoyed it a lot.
C: Yeah... but I didn't enjoy going up the big hill. 

C: I want to go on the water slide!  What color is it?  I want mine to be blue, and orange, and purple, and red, with orange on the bottom, and blue on the side....

C: My car is really fast!

Dad: And how many brakes does it have?

C: 37!

Me: And is it a sports car, a mini van, a SUV or a hatchback?

C: It's a hatchback. 

C: Look at what shirt I have on!  I have a really cool shirt on!  (to every hiker we passed...)

Me: Babies are awake.

Dad: Didn't jostle them enough today?

Me: Guess not.

C: Why are they awake?

Me: They're kicking.

C: And are they breaking your tummy?
Me: Nope.  It feels like this.  *tap, tap, tap*

Colton Helps Me Weed

C: How big is your tummy?
Me: You can't see it?  It's pretty big!  See?
C: Wow, that's pretty big!

C: How old are my babies?
Me: They're not even born yet.  So they're 0.
C: You mean they're zero years old?
Me: Yep. 

Me: Are you going to help me weed today?  We need to clear out all these plants.
C: But not the white flowers!  Those are my favorites!  [dandelions that have gone to seed]
Me: I know they're your favorite, but they're not supposed to be in the garden. 

C: So Mom, what was the favorite part of the day?
Me: Probably taking a nap!  What was yours?
C: Having a pop-si-cicle!

Me: You forgot to wash your hair.
C: I'll just get a haircut!

Age Is Relative

C: Tomorrow, will it be my birthday?
Me: 15 more sleeps.
C: Stop saying so many sleeps!
Me: Well, that's how far away it is.  I have like 40 sleeps til my birthday.
C: How old will you be?
Me: What comes after 32?
C: 24. [Thanks kid, I'll keep ya]
Me: 31, 32, ...
C: 33!
Me: Yep, that's how old I will be.
C: And when I am 4, I'll be older than you!

Colton on the Future

Chilly day @ Camano Beach 6/22

C: But I WANT one of those beans! [chocolate covered espresso beans]

Me: Sorry, buddy, they have caffeine in them, so you can't have them til you're older.

C: When I'm an adult?

Me: Yeah.

C: When I'm an adult, I will be a mommy!

Me: Oh yeah? And how many kids are you gonna have?

C: Twenty!

C: Some time, can I go to the end of the water?

Me: Sure, but you won't be able to go to the end of the ocean. 

C: Why?

Me: Because the ocean is really big, and you'd have to take an airplane to get to the other side.

Today Is a Slurpee Kind of Day!

C: Can you just make me some instructions so I can make a steam engine?  I'll get you some paper!

Me: ... and soon, it will be your birthday!
C: And I be able to jump REALLY high into the bright, blue sky!

C: Where did that noise come from?
Me: It sounds like our neighbor is using a saw.
C: No, it's a Slurpee machine!  Can we have Slurpees?

Colton vs Hockey, Part IV

Me: Great job at hockey tonight, buddy!  Are you tired?
C: Yeah, I'm all fueled out!
Dad: How are your legs?
C: They're just smothered.

Great improvement again tonight!  He is able to get onto the ice from out of the rink and glide a little bit, and was standing on the ice for long periods of time.  Still working on standing up when on the ice, but he's getting close!  He even tried jumping on his skates during one of the exercises.  Lots of smiles and a lot of hard work on his part tonight. Very proud of him! 

C: Will you stay home with me all day tomorrow?
Me: No, sorry buddy, I have to work.
C: Will Daddy?
Me: He has to work too.
C: And I have to work!
Me: Where do you work?
C: Just over some snowy mountains!
Me: And what do you do for work?
C: I play. And when someone needs a computer, I do the computer. And I sell cars.
Me: So you work on the computer and sell cars?
C: And play!

Colton Does Father's Day

Me: Because it only comes once a year. C: When we're in outer space, can we play tag? Me: Sure. C: It's just gonna be on top of the mountain!     Me: When we get home, you can help me make some spicy eggs to take to Granddad's. C: And can I eat them? Me: When we get to Granddad's. C: You just have to save some for everyone else! Me: That's right.  C: Are we going to Starbucks? Me: Yep. C: We're going too slow! Me: We've gotta go the speed limit, bud.

Me: Not today.
C: But I'm listening really well!

Colton Gets a Hair Cut

C got his hairs cut

Me: Doesn't Jax look cute with his new haircut?
C: Yeah! And I want one just like his!  Tomorrow, when I wake up, can I get my hair cut?
Me: We'll see if Dad has time to take you tomorrow, or we'll go this weekend.

C: Why do you pick me up every time from Kathy & Bridger's?
Me: Because I'm all done with work and it's time to go home.
C: I will just stay here and ride my bike.
Me: But I will miss you at home.
C: I'll just come home in the morning!
Me: If I have to work in the morning and won't be home to see you.
C: I can just follow you home.
Me: You'll have to pedal fast to keep up with Mama's car.
C: No, it's not a bike, it's a skateboard!

C: When I'm all done with my bath, I'll be shiny & sparkly!

C: I'm using this water from Cow's farm and I'm making it really strong because I'm using lots of water!

Colton Watches the Stanley Cup

C: I can't hear hockey!

Dad: That's because it's on mute.

C: I think the Zamboni's on the ice!

Me: We're going home to watch hockey.

Colton Goes for a Bike Ride

Of course he had to do the puddles!

2.5 mi bike ride while Mom jogged ~ not bad for the little guy!

Me: Good thing we went for a bike ride earlier.  Look at it now!
C: It's raining and we're safe and warm inside.

C: When I get back to the car, I won't be able to do the buckles. [on his car seat]
Me: How come? 
C: My arms are too tired.
Me: But your feet were doing the pedaling.
C: But my arms are tired from holding onto the handles!

C: I don't remember this being a bumpy track!

Colton vs. Hockey

                                                    

Me: What was your favorite part of hockey?
C: All of it!

Much better night on the ice!  While he still can't stand up by himself, he is now getting to his knees, and once put into a standing position, he can maintain that by himself for a little while when being pulled along by a hockey stick. 

Colton and Tantrums

C: I like to sleep and dance!

C: When I'm 20, I want to be 20 forever!

Me: Sounds like a nice wish, buddy. 

Me: Does Mommy fall on the floor when she gets told no?
C: No.
Me: Does Daddy fall on the floor when he gets told no?
C: Yes.

C: Her shirt.
Dad: Nope.
C: Her sandals.

C: Her hair?
Dad: Yep.  Does Mom look cute?
C: Yeah!

Colton Is a Booger

Me: What was your favorite part of today?
C: Going to Sarah & Jordan's!  And I liked sitting next to Nana best!  She's my best friend.  And Mom, you're just my friend.

C: Before I go to bed, can I brush teeth, go potty, and have a story?

Me: Yep, that's what we do every night.
C: What do you do before you go to bed?

Me: I brush teeth, go potty, and read myself a story.

C: And then what?
Me: And then I go to sleep!

Colton Makes Dinner

C: Chicken noodle soup.  Do we have any chicken noodle soup?
Me: I don't know.
C: We can stop at the store and get some.
Me: (laughing) We could.

C: When will my dad be home?
Me: Late tonight.  But he'll be home in the morning when you wake up. Mama too.
C: And will you both play with me?
Me: Sure!
C: I choose trains!  We should make a new track in the morning!
Me: Sounds like fun.

Colton on Sunshine

	Me: Where is my sunshine? C: I can't know. Me: Where do you think it is? C: It's visiting his mommy. Me: Where does his mommy live? C: A very long way away. C: Mom, do you like rainbows? Me: I do. C: But you can't have rainbows without the rain and sun. Me: Yeah, but it's not rainy or sunny. It's cloudy today. C: But I can draw you a rainbow. And I will use all my markers, pencils, and new crayons!  Would that be pretty cool? Me: That'd be pretty cool! C: Tomorrow, when I wake up, will it be my birthday? Me: No, buddy. 29 more sleeps. C: I'm just gonna stay in bed til my birthday. Me: That would be a whole lot of sleeping.

Colton Has a Long Day

Me: Why are you whining?
C: Because I'm talking to you.

Me: Why don't you go get your computer and come and sit with me?
C: I will be happy to sit with you!

C: We did the swing-rope in class today!

C: I just had a very long day and I didn't want a very long day.  I only wanted this much of a day! (holding up a pinch)

It's hard to play alllllll day.  It really is.

Colton Picks out Baby Names

C: Will you take me to Kathy's today?
Me: I can't buddy, I have to take the babies to the doctor.
C: Will they take the babies out today?
Me: Not today. They're not big enough yet.
C: How big are they now?
Me: This size! (holding up a grapefruit)
C: And when will they be as big as my chair?
Me: When they're as old as you.
C: But I'm only 3.
Me: Yeah, but you're as big as the chair.

Me: What was your favorite part of the day, buddy?
C: Everything!
Me: I'm glad you had a good day!
C: Did you have a good day?
Me: I did, thanks!

Me: Tomorrow, we have swim class and then we'll go see Sarah, Jordan, & Nana.
C: And I am going to peep one eye at Nana, like this! (winks)

C: I think we should name our babies Jaxom and Jamie!
Me: Those are pretty great names, huh?

C: Will I be able to skate by myself when I'm 17?
Me: I think you'll be able to skate by yourself by the time you're 4. And when you're 17, you'll be able to help the little kids learn to skate.
C: Can Jax play hockey?
Me: Not yet, but you can help him learn when he's a little older.
C: And I will teach him when he's 3!

C: My skates are too icy for the ice.

C: Everything!

C: Do they have quiet potties in the woods?
Me: Really quiet ones.  There aren't any potties in the woods.

Colton Is Independent

Dad: If you need me, I'll be in the garage.
C: Thanks, but I don't need you.

Sarah: ... maybe it's because Thomas has two syllables.
C: No, Thomas is the #1 engine!

Me: Are you a tired boy?
C: Yeah, and I just need two bed rests.
Me: I bet.  You played hard today.
C: Yeah.

Where Is My Sunshine?

Me: Why is it raining?
C: Because the sun didn't want to come out today.
Me: How come?
C: It's visiting his mommy.

C: His mommy is the REALLY, REALLY big sun!

Colton Falls Apart

Swim lessons 6/1

C: Did you run out of coffee bags?
Me: Yeah, I ran out of coffee, and creamer, and some other stuff. (horrors!)
C: I will share my kid food with you!  You can have cereal and dip-dip!

C: When I get to Dad's door, I will have to tiptoe past. 
Me: Dad's not sleeping, so you don't have to tiptoe.
C: Watch how fast I can go!  *stomp, stomp, stomp*

C: I just hurt my fingers!  I keep falling apart!

C: I like my new teeth!
C went to the dentist today and keeps saying he has new teeth, instead of just really clean teeth.
