Colton Is a Camping Boy

Every night since his birthday party (7/9), Colton has slept in his Thomas tent.  He curls up inside and is perfectly content.

Some perspective ~ it's tiny!
Peek!
Sleepy Colton
Dad: Go give Mom a night kiss.
Colton comes up and plants a kiss on my belly ~
C: I kissed the babies!

C: Upstairs in my room, I can spin on 1 foot!   Because I'm 4 years old!  Want to come up and see me?  You could pause your work!

C: You can have some macaroni and cheese!  I just LOVE macaroni and cheese!  I want it every day! With a cookie!  And then I will poop.  The end.  That's the end of the story, Mom!
Me: That was a lovely story.

C: How old will my babies be when I'm 30-hundred?
Me: I don't know.
C: Maybe they're gonna be 16.

C: Mom, do you know anything about stuff?
Me: Yeah, I know stuff about stuff.

Colton on Bedtime

River trail bike ride
C: Bridger says I'm the mommy and he's the daddy.
Me: Oh, well, will you tuck me in tonight?
C: Yeah!  But first you have to brush your teeth.  And I'll turn over my timer that has blue stuff in it.  When no more blue stuff comes down, I'll turn it back over so you can rinse and spit. And then you can pick some stories!
Me: Can I have two stories?
C: You can have four!
Me: Yay!

C: Those are my favorite birdies!  (robins along the trail)

Colton vs Hockey, and Wins!

Hockey update: up & skating tonight!!   No trouble getting up on his skates and he started to slowly shuffle from one end to the other, as well as participated in the warmup exercises to the best of his ability (some jumping & falling, etc).  Session ended tonight and we'll rejoin in August.

C: I'm just out of fuel.
Dad: Is it time to put jammies on when we get home?
Me: And tuck Mama in and read her a story?
C: No.
Me: Why not?
C: I can't read by myself.
Me: You can use your pen.
C: My pen doesn't work on your books.

Post-session BBQ; also post-cupcake ;)

Putting his hand on my belly -
C: I got one of the babies!

Colton Spends a Day with Thomas

Me: ... and you have hockey tomorrow after I get home from work.
C: And I'm 4 now, so I know how to skate!  And I can teach you!  First you need to get some skates and then you go out onto the ice and start skating.
Sounds easy enough.

Leaving Day Out with Thomas was hard ~
C: But I only got to play for a little bit!  I want to stay and play for seven six hundred minutes!

Dad: Did you say thank you for your new train?
C: To who?
Dad: Someone in this car.  Did you tell Mommy thank you?
C: Mommy, thank you for coming with us today!
Dad: You're supposed to thank her for your train, goofus!

C: I don't think I have so many tracks.
Me: I think you do.

C: I'm in your kitchen making some track!

C: Rubble's blocking my way!
(aka a fallen tub o' toys)

While playing a game... HA!
C: Do I get to sleep on the couch tonight?

And Today, We Celebrate!

C: How old will I be when you're 20?
Me: I've already been 20.
C: When you get to 20, you just get to start over.

Dad: Mommy needs to wake up a little.
C: You just have to get off the couch.
Me: Give me a second to wake up, kiddo.

C: When are you going to sleep?
Me: Later.
C: 9 o'clock?
Me: Probably after that.
C: When you're 9, you can stay up til 9 so you just have to go to bed at 9.  Are you 9?

C: Can we go hiking today?
Me: Not today, people are coming over for your party.
C: Why is it my birthday party every time?
Me: Only happens once a year, kiddo.

C: It's still day!

Me What was your favorite part of the day?
C: I got to have a birthday sleepover!

Nanan zerberts Colton ~
C: It's my turn to spit on you!

While weeding ~
C: Mom, I found some grass in the dirt!  This grass isn't good for the Earth!

C: Do you know how much fun I want in the morning?
Me: No, how much?
C: 700 fun!

Colton Knows Everything

C: Hey guys, I just know everything!

While riding his bike ~
C: Are you proud of me?
Me: I'm always proud of you!

C: What's the herb garden?
Me: Remember the planter boxes outside that you helped me plant?
C: Yeah! Let's keep them.

C: How old do I have to be to be a mommy?
Me: Please wait at least until you're 18.  And you get to be a daddy!

Colton Does the Fourth

Red, white & blue bike ride!
2.2 mi bike ride with the kiddo out on the river trail while Mom attempted that running thing when I wasn't pulling the little guy over hills/bumps and out of the mud.  Much more walking for me these days, but it was still a nice one!

Me: Should we make peanut butter cookies or peanut butter and chocolate cookies?
C: No thanks, I'm just making jam!
Dad & Colton made a batch of strawberry jam.  Yummo!

C: I'm just gonna annoy you and I will watch more fireworks than you!

 Sparklers were stinky
C: Hey Justin!  ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... Hey Justin! ... We have cute fireworks.

C: Can we do some different fireworks?

C: I want a firework with all sorts of kinds of colors!

C: I'm all hot and bothered.

On the way home ~
C: FIREWORKS! ... Fireworks! ... fireworks over there... fireworks... Zzz...

Colton Goes Camping

Me: I'm gonna be allllll alone in the tent tonight.
Sarah: Who is gonna keep Mama warm?
C: She can just keep herself warm.
Me: Oh, thanks.

C: Nana, my bed fell down!
(C's sleeping bag fell off the bed and onto the ground in the middle of the night.  Whoops!)

C: Why do you make me sad every time?
Me: I'm sorry you're sad, but we have to go home today.

Heh... C's pen read him The Little Engine That Could on the way home & it promptly put him to sleep.

Me: Watch Mama's tummy, do you see it moving?
C: Yeah!
Me: That's the babies kicking.
C: I think they're going to try to make you throw up.

Me: Mama's tired, buddy.  You got to take a nap in the car and I didn't.
C: You should've asked me if you could take a nap, but you didn't ask.
Me: Were you going to drive us home?
C: No, because I don't know how to drive! I'm only 3 and a half.  Maybe when I'm 4.
