You Scream, I Scream

C: Thank you for the ice cream you got us, Dad!
(Mom bought the ice cream)

C: Every day I'm gonna do something gooder than Jordan. Is that nice?
Me: Not really, buddy.
C: Well, I'm gonna play longer than Jordan.
Me: I see.

C: I'm sitting in your spot!
Me: Sit in your own spot!
C: But my spot is dirty.
Me: Gee, I wonder who got it messy?
C: It's all oatmealy!

C: And at the water park, the water slide fell down!  But not the water.  Perhaps it just fell into the pool.
Me: Perhaps it did.

C: I wish we could have chicken noodle soup every day!  We're having chicken noodle soup because I still have a cough *cough* and it will make my cough go away.  Now I don't have a cough anymore!

Are You Ready to Whoop to the Blankey?

I've just finished reading a couple of books where the author goes into such detail of a father putting his kiddos to bed. She talks about how they would play this 'game' called "Waft", where you toss up the blanket and let it waft down upon on the child. It's a tidbit that has appeared in both the books I've read by her, and clearly it was a special time for her. Reminds me very much of our bedtime games, but they're called something else.

We play this game called "What Else?", where my role is to simply ask "What else?" and Colton tells me all kinds of things.  Usually, it's about Thomas and the perils of his friends' lives... but sometimes not.  And he just keeps talking, making up stories as he goes.

We play this game called "Eh!", which has now morphed into "Silly Oh!" ~ where I say "Eh!" or "Silly oh!", he laughs and plunges his head into the pillow.  I don't know why...  But it never fails to make me laugh. :)

"Whoop to the Blankey" is where you throw the blankey up and let it come down.  Usually on your head, making your hair 'all straight' or 'all curly' as the child deems appropriate.

And then I must 'check on him' in an interval that he determines.  If I say I'll be back in one minute, he'll tell me "Two fives!" or something else, I'll agree and then usually have to come back around the one minute mark anyway.

This is after playing for 'two minutes' while I read from his special book (about Thomas, of course!).

So many rules, but he doesn't fight me about going to bed.  We have so much to do, after all.
