Colton Is Jaded

Dad: Good morning, buddy!
C: I'm still waking up.

C: Do you know the rules to water balloon fights? Because there are rules for everything, you know.

C: My fingernails just aren't growing back!
Me: It takes more than a day for them to come back.

C: Watch out for my Angry Birds, or they will get angry with you!

Colton vs Hockey Take 2

C: Do you like my hockey style?

C: I'm getting better!
Dad: Yay!

C: I'm tired. I'm all wore'd out.

Colton Turns 5

C: Are you glad that I'm turning five?
Me: You're already five.
C: No, I'm not five until I blow out the candles on my cake.
Me: Oh, okay.  So I won't feel old until then.

C: I'm hungry.
Me: Again?
C: After all, I am the eating machine.
Me: I guess so!

C: My elbow hurts from the bouncy house, so I think I need to skate now.

C: Those strawberries hurt my tongue.
Me: Did you sprain it?
C: I think so.

Me: Did you have a fun birthday?
C: Yes! After all, I am the Angry Birds Train Boy!

If You Give a Colton a Cookie

Launching rockets with Dad 6/24
Me: Is it hard to be a Colton?
C: It's hard when he really wants a cookie and doesn't get a cookie.

Colton & Mateo
C: We can go somewhere really special for dinner!
Me: Yeah?
C: Yeah, to McDonalds!
Me: I thought you couldn't eat McDonalds anymore?
C: I'm all done throwing up, so I can now!
Darn.

Footprints after a playing in a mud hole
C: Do you know what the most important part about living?
Me: What?
C: To take care of our house so it doesn’t collapse.
There you have it; the secret to life.

4th of July...to which he wore his CANADA shirt
C: I'm really tired of waiting for the fireworks show.
We only heard this allllll day.

July 5th @ Forest Park
C & Brenden: MORE FIREWORKS! MORE FIRE!
It was a Beavis & Butthead evening.

Sun break :)
C: I'm going downstairs where nobody can bug me!
Me: I'm the only one here.
C: But if you want to check on me, that's fine. And if you decide to come cuddle with me, that's fine with me too.

Colton the Foodie

And now, a word from our sponsor....
(Colton M&Ms Please)

Me: Dad and I will both be home on Thursday.
C: Does that mean we can have Dutch babies?
Me: I don't know, you'll have to ask the cook!

Me: I brought you a cupcake home from our potluck!
C: That's just what I always wanted you to bring!

Me: Did you like your cupcake?
C: Yep!  But I would rather have what was on the sign.  When can we go to the dessert store again?  I will tell Dad to get me some cookie dough. Because that's what I've always wanted!
Me: You can help me make cookies tomorrow instead, and then you will have some dough to eat.

Licking the batter for the zucchini bread (yes, we made both) ~
C: This is even better than the cookie batter!

C: Are you excited for the fireworks show?  It's going to be the best fireworks ever!

C: I'm going to save a sparkler for Dad!

C: I am sad that all my friends are 5 before me.
Me: But you'll be 5 in a few more days!
C: And Mom? We just have to go to Red Robin to get some balloons to decorate.

C: You know what will be the best present ever? To have all of my family at my party!
Me: How come that's the best present ever?
C: Because I would have so many people to hug!  Like you, and Dad, and Nanan, and Nana...

C: I'm tired of waiting for that fireworks show.
Me: Well, I can't make it darker.
C: Well, if we lasso down the sun, then the moon will come out. And then it would be sunny in our car!

C: I have to tell you something.  The sun is a really strong energy source so we can't have it in something small like a car.

Me: Where did my sunshine go?
C: We should just take down all those gray clouds!

Colton Is Cuddly

Strawberry crop from our deck!
C: I can't hold down McDonald's anymore.  Dad tried, but it doesn't work.
Oh darn.

C: You know what would be the best present of all?
Me: What?
C: Being here with all of my family.
Aww!

C: Dad said I could handle one of the fireworks all by myself!
Me: The sparklers? Sure.
C: No, the things that go crack. (Pop-its)

C: Don't you wish you could just stay here and cuddle with me all day?
Me: You'd like that, huh?

C: Dad? Do you know what would be the coolest on your computer?
Dad: What?
C: Abcmouse.com!
Dad: And where did you learn that?
C: From Sprout!

C: And you know those old cell phones that don't work anymore? You put them in any US mailbox and they turn into cash!
Dad: And where did you hear that?
C: Sprout. I watch too much Sprout, don't I?

C: Fireworks!  I heard them because my window was open.  I could listen to them ALL night!

Fashion by Colton

Fashion by Colton...blue camo pants and Angry Birds!
C: I'm tired of waiting for my birthday! I've been waiting for 59 weeks!
Me: There are only 52 weeks in a year.
C: And I've been waiting all that time!

C: And I didn't throw up at all last night. That means I'm super-super-feeling-much-better.

Playing Xbox ~
C: Or I can do my Goona Shaker again.
Dad: What?
C: My Goona Shaker.
Dad: You’ll have to show me.
(selects a track)
Dad: Oh, Laguna Seca.
C: Yeah.

C: The easiest way to go up the hill is to go down.

C: My legs are all wored out!

Colton Is Sick

LOL, note the "tail"

C: *sneeze* See? I told you I’m super sick. And I’m super sad.
Me: I think you’ll be all right, bud.

C: Know what the comfiest place is down here? The wardrobe!

Me: Do you want some chicken noodle soup?
C: No, I think my tummy wants a quesadilla. Quesadillas are gooder than soup!

Me: We should have soup for dinner.
C: But I want tornellini! (tortellini)
Me: I don't think your tummy will like the tomato sauce. We can have it for lunch tomorrow if you're feeling better.
C: For breakfast?

C: I need to go to the doctor. Doctors know everything.

C: Can you call the doctor and have him come here? Because I'm super sick.

C: Can you call my coach and tell him I will be too sick in the morning?

C: Are you sad that I am sick?
Me: Of course I am!
C: What if you and I were sick at the same time? Then Dad would have to take care of us!
Me: I'm sure he would, bud.

C: Look at this race car I built!  It has 15 gears!  And it's faster than... than... it's faster than a motorcycle!

Me: Here honey, have some soup.
C: I'm afraid it won't do any good.

C: I will pick out what movie I want next.  But my legs won't let me balance very well.

Colton Goes Pretend Camping

C: I got to sit and cuddle with Mom until I farted.
Boys...!

C: In this green space (aka Canada), there are lots of camping spots, so that's where I am going to camp!

Me: How long was your camping trip?
C: 55 days!
Me: That's a long time!
C: Yeah, it was 14 weeks!

Me: What did you have for lunch on your camping trip?
C: Clams and fries.
Me: At the lake?
C: No, from the bakery!

Me: I would like to take you and your brothers to go see Yellowstone again.
C: And we could stay for one night.
Me: Hopefully a few nights.  It takes a few days to go through Yellowstone since it's huge.
C: And dynamic!

C: And Yellowstone has trees that come on fire.
Me: Only if there's lightning, or somebody drops a cigarette, or something and starts the fire.  They don't spontaneously burst into flame.
C: Only if we had our fire-lighter-thing and accidentally dropped it and it started a fire.

C: Driving races is much harder than running races!  The turns are a lot more complicated.
Me: Because turning left is hard.

C: Cars with tails have those little, red lights in them. And do you know what they're for?
Me: No, what?
C: Brakes! Is that pretty cool?
Me: You sure do want a car with a spoiler, eh?

Colton Is a World Traveler

Playing is harrrrrd.

C: Do you know what my favorite state is?
Me: Nope, what is it?
C: Yellowstone!

Looking at a road atlas for the US ~
C: Mom!  I went around the whole Earth!

C: I love cars with tails!  I think they're cutie-pies.

On video games ~
C: My finger is tired from all that braking. I just have to go upstairs and take a rest.

C: Can we go to the train store today?
Me: No, we don't have time.
C: How about in two sleeps?
Me: That would be Monday and I am not in charge on Monday.
C: No, I said TWO sleeps.
Me: And I said that would be Monday and I will have to work.
C: But I never get to go to the train store! I haven't been there for a year!

C: It's not fun when we have to go home.

C: Maybe we can visit "the other Colton" next week?
Me: Sorry bud, they're moving to Vegas.  Down by Phoenix.
C: Oh!  But I am going to miss them!
