Colton Plays Cards

Me: Okay, Colton, you can get up now!
C: Mom, did I sleep?
Me: No.
C: Why did I not?
Me: I don't know!

C: Mom, I'm so excited!
(to play Go Fish)

He creamed me.. but that's what I get for pretending like I didn't know exactly what was in his hand :)

And then we made muffins...

C: I ate something I didn't notice!
I'm afraid to ask. (while licking the bowl)

C: Mom, you forgot to fill this!
(holding up an empty wrapper ~ whoops, missed one!)

And then we went to the park...

C: I'm looking for you in here!
(while looking in one of the drains)

Colton Does Hard Work

Somebody, I'm not saying who, may have left the lid off the sandbox.  Resulting in lots of messy fun for the small one.

C: Mom, I'm doing all this hard, hard work!

C: And I have to do all the work!

The work he's doing:
(That would be watering the plants/deck/himself
with the water from the sandbox & its lid)
C: Mom, look at everything I'm making! I'm making a full bucket with sand & water. That's what I'm making!

On the way home ~
Me: You know what today is a good day for?
C: Hmm?
Me: A popsicle!
C: But I want to go camping.

Uhm, okay.
~ * ~

Dad: Did you get to see Nana’s goats?
C: Yeah.
Dad: Are they cool?
C: Yeah. The green one is my favorite.
Dad: The green one?
C: Yeah. And I want 3 goats, Dad.

Out of context is much funnier than in. The goats are wearing blue/green collars, hence the one being green ;)

It's Not Easy Being Green...

Me: Did you have fun today?
C: No, I had a sad day. (Colton was sad about leaving Sarah & Jordan’s a few minutes before)
Me: That makes me sad.
C: No, Mama, you can’t be sad. Only one guy can be sad!

Me: What did you do today?
C: I played in the mettles!
Me: The blackberry bushes?
C: Yeah.

Me: Did you like meeting Nana’s new goats?
C: No, I had a sad time. (Still sad about leaving Sarah & Jordan's)
Me: That’s too bad.
C: Seeing the blackberry bushes will make me happy!

Dinner conversation ~
C: The kitty was making me nonsense!
Me: Nauseous?
C: Yeah.  The kitty was making me nonsense!

While driving ~
C: Dad, you have to stop at the stop sign.
Dad: I will, buddy.
C: Yeah, because it spells STOP.

On the way home ~
Me: Should we go for a run?
C: Yeah and I want to go to the park! And Mom, you can't run too fast.
Me: I won't; don't worry.
C: You can't run too fast because I will get very hot.

~ * ~

And one last one... the second time I went up to tuck him into bed ~
C: Mom, it's been so long since I seen you, and I needed to see you because I very missed you.
Aww...

C: I want blueberries and cream oatmeal!
Me: Okay.
C: I actually don't know what blueberries are.
.... only his most favorite berries ever!

White Horses

C: Mom, I'm scared of the white horses.
Me: The white horses?
C: Yeah, I just saw them.
Me: Where?
C: Right there.
Me:  Huh? Ooooh, wipers. Got it.

C: Mom, I missed you really, very much.
Aww!

C: Mom, what do I 'mell?  Do you 'mell a 'mell?
('mell=smell ~ those S sounds are tough)

Colton on Naptime

C: I don’t know how to sleep.

Before bedtime...

C: Dad, you have to go take a nap with my mom.

C: I am so tired. I am so tired, and I don't want to get up in the morning.
It's tough, this sleeping-in business.

Colton on Surprises

C: Mom, I am going to eat all my asparagus to surprise you!
Wow, I'm surprised!

C: I want more asparagus to eat for I can surprise you again!
You don't have to ask me twice!

He then offered up his carrots for me to eat so I could surprise him.  Who am I to turn down veggies?!

And now it's bath time!

Colton Goes Fishing

C: You throwed a fishy off my fishing pole and it swimmed away!
Really, I cast the bobber and hook into the middle of the lake, but we'll file that under details.

Lake Gissberg

So serious!

They had a good time...even if we didn't catch anything :)

Colton Goes Camping

We drove cars through the dirt.
And Colton poured the sand on his head...
We played a little soccer
And really got into it.
C: "This sign is for people standing next together!"
Mmm, tuna helper!
Hiking @ Lake Tipsoo
Speeding down the mountain
C: Let's do that great big hike over there!
