Colton Goes Camping

Nanan: What do you want to do when you grow up?
C: I want to go in space!
Nanan: And what would you do in space?
C: I want to chase down all the star ships!

C: Where's Dad?
Me: He went to call Opa.  He has to drive a little bit until he can get reception.
C: Yeah, cuz we're way out in Pittsburgh!

C: I'll get it!
Me: I've got it.
C: Why do you always get things when I say I'm going to?
Me: Because I'm the meanest mom ever.
C: You need to stop being mean!
Me: Or?
C: I'm going to stop paying you!
Good ol' threat to the mom salary...

Colton Does Father's Day

Bestest boys ever!
Me: Wow, check out the mountain! (Rainier)
C: It almost looks like a volcano!
Me: It is a volcano.
C: I can't believe I just saw a volcano!

Me: Are you awake?  Do you want to come with me to get donuts?
C: I'm too tired... Oh wait, I wanna come!
Me: I'm going to go put on some coffee while you get dressed.
C: I need something too.  I'm too tired to get dressed.
Me: Okay, I'll make you some hot chocolate.

Me: That sneaky Dad is already awake and knows we're going to get donuts.
C: It doesn't matter because he doesn't know what kind we're gonna pick out.

Guy at Frost: Are you drinking coffee too?
C: No, it's hot chocolate!  (he just had to take it in with him)

Me: When I was a kid, we went camping on the boat.
C: WHAAaaaT?!

Sailing with Granddad!
Took Colton to see the Magic Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle on Friday ~
Me: What was your favorite cure?
C: The pirate cure!

Me: You have some serious stick-em-up hair today.
C: That's the way I want it!

Colton's Concert

Mom & Mrs. Gerla coordinated outfits
C: I'm feeling like in the morning, I might want to do an art project!
Really?  How unlike you!

Post-concert trip out to ice cream with Nanan, Grandma, Granddad, and Mom.

5th blur from the left in the top row, singing Bye Bye Baby Tooth.

And from earlier in the week, here's Colton's house ~

So you too can have your very own cardboard, tin foil-roofed house to live in when it's pouring down rain outside. And it will only be a head taller than Colton, so if you're taller than that, you can crawl, he says.

Colton Goes Camping

C: I wish we could live at camping.
Me: Well, if we lived here, it would be home and then we'd have to camp back at the house.

C: I am going to create an indoor campsite.
Me: What's the point of that?
C: So we could camp any time, even if it rains.

C: We're having a good camping trip!  We went hiking, saw a caboose..
As all good camping trips should include.

C: I think Beckler River is the best camp spot.
Me: Why's that?
C: Because it's where I learned to snap!

C: If I had my circle powers, I would just fly up and blast all the rain out of the sky.
Me: Did you bring your circle powers?
C: No, I forgot them.  Sorry.

Colton Does Mother's Day

C: You don't get to do anything today since it's Mother's Day!  I'm going to put on a hockey game for you!

C: Mom, how did you like the donut that you had?
Me: It was delicious!  How was yours?
C: It was even delicious that I've never tried before!

C: Mom, I've been thinking that I want to drink pollen from flowers like a bee.  So can you make me small?
Me: Sorry bud, I don't have that kind of power.  But I bet we can find some sunflowers that are as big as you.

C: I'm going to get a dog and name it Weasel.
Me: What kind of dog are you going to get?
C: A weaselish dog!
Me: Is that a big or a little dog?
C: It's like a fire station dog.
Me: Oh, you want a spotty dog. Your dad had spotty dogs growing up.

Me: We're going to have special breakfast tomorrow!
C: What is it?
Me: Sausage and eggs or something.
C: And I'm gonna tell Dad my super secret surprise for you.
Me: Okay, don't tell me.
....
Me: Not this Saturday, but the next Saturday, Bridger is having a sleepover party.
C: You guessed my super secret surprise! I'm having a sleepover party and you can sleep in my room! We're going to have cake. And Dad's invited!

Aww, Colton

C: I'm doing an art project!
Me: Cool, what are you making?
C: I'm making flowers because I'm marrying you.  And I just need to build the flowers to get them ready.

C: Know what game I'm gonna play?
Me: What?
C: I'm gonna play the stay-outta-the-lawnmower's-way game!
Good idea.

C: You know what's okay?
Me: What?
C: If Dad makes his own dinner sometimes. Because the boys eat all his dinner. Right?
This was Colton's way of asking for his dad's fish.

C: I'm gonna go upstairs and make a list of people that are coming to my birthday. If they've been rude to me, I'm gonna put an X on their name. If I circle their name, that means that they're coming to my birthday. It's kinda like tic-tac-toe, right?

Colton Puts on a Concert

One ticket for admission
Pre-concert set-up - note legs behind the curtain

Taking tickets
The man himself
The audience - Dad got the "green" section
I die of cute!

"Bye-bye baby tooth
Oh baby tooth good bye
I can feel you wiggle
with just a little jiggle
Oh bye-bye baby tooth good bye"

Me: Is that your microphone or a megaphone?
C: It's a microphone.  It helps my voice be bigger.  My voice is just this big and it helps it be this big.

When Life Gives You Lemons...

Dad: Did you notice that our boy has freckles now?
C: Yeah, and that's why I'm a little itchy.

C: I ate all my breakfast!
Dad: Good job, buddy.
C: And good job, lemon!
Dutch Babies with real lemons for breakfast today! :)

C: I hate school on Wednesday!  School should never be on Wednesday!  I'm just gonna have recess all day!
Me: You love school.  You just don't want to leave the park.

Me: Are you going to add any pictures to your book?
C: No, it's just words.  And I'm going to make lots of copies and sell them.  They are just $1.  And that's easy to buy, right?
My little entrepreneur...

C: I'm reading quietly, so you can't hear me.
It's nice to read quietly, isn't it?
You can turn the hockey off so we can read.
And you're reading too!  I like reading, don't you?
Yes, yes I do... now if you would just work on the quiet part.... ;)

COLTONS IN SPAAAAACE

C: I wrote a book about space today!  Have you been to all these planets before?
Me: Nope.
C: How come?
Me: Just hasn't happened.
C: Can I go to outer space?
Me: Sure.
It could happen.

"I am in space"
Love the comet orbiting the sun
C: Of course you have been to this planet.  (Earth)
Me: Of course.

This boy jumped off the diving board AND
swam all the way across the deep end sans life jacket!
C: I did my first magic trick! At first, this one M&M flew out, and then I shook it real hard, and then when I looked in again, they were all gone. Pretty magical, huh?

Last page of his book
C: This is a bill for $100. You need to give me $100.
Dad: You have to provide a service to send a bill. What service do you provide?
C: I sell organic stuff.

C: Hey Dad, this is our battle car!
Dad: What are we fighting?
C: Every Honda!

Colton Has a Phone

Cheek pink from a self-stamping session.
His "phone" is a piece of styrofoam
C: Look what I made today!  A key!
Me: Dad said he is going to get you your own key pretty soon.
C: Yeah, because I'm going to be an adult soon and will need one.

C: I'm going to put my smart phone in my pocket.  The only other thing I need in my pocket is money, because I'm going to be an adult soon.  And you can't be a person without money!

C: I downloaded Angry Birds Star Wars and Skylander Giants on my smart phone today.  Don't you like that I did that?

C: I'm just going to sit in here and play on my phone where it's quiet.
