Colton Was in the Circus?

   Intently watching Super Why
      Exasperated by the mamarazzi
C: Hey Mom, when I was in the circus I ate some crunchy apples, shiny oranges, and pears!

C: Hurry, Mom, fast as you can!! The drain is unplugged and I can't plugged it!

Me: What was your favorite part about today?
C: Working.
Me: Working?
C: Yeah, working with my tools!  What did you do today?
Me: Mama went to the casino!
C: And I want to go to the museum!
Not quite the same thing, but alright!

C: What is that noise?
Me: It's raining.
C: Why is it raining on our house? I don't want it to rain!

C: But Mom, don't unplug the drain! In the morning we can unplug it!

C: This ticket (faux wood from tool set) is for Dad, but Dad isn't here so I put it in my wallet (tool tub)!  My window is open, but I will keep my ticket safe!  Mom, when you're done being lots of busy, I will give you a ticket!

Me: In a little bit.
C: Oh, but please, please, please can you get it?!
Me: In a while.
C: Just one while. Please can you have just one while?

On how to eat a cough drop ~
C: Don't swallow your swallow thing!

Colton Is Assertive

C: Tonight I will see SPOOKY!  And it will be a MONSTER!  And it will be a Colton and Daddy monster!

C: Can I have some chocolate?
Me: After you eat some dinner, we'll talk about it.
C: NO! LET'S NOT TALK ABOUT IT! CHOCOLATE IS FOR EATING, NOT TALKING!!

Me: What was your favorite thing today?
C: Playing outside!
Me: Yeah? Did you have fun?
C: Yeah, but my ankles hurt.
Me: Uh-oh, are they okay?
C: Yeah, when I play too much Chutes and Ladders, my ankles hurt.

Colton Takes Charge

It's rainbow-making weather out there!
Me: Hey buddy, can you stop ringing the bell?  Mama's head really hurts.
C: I have a Band-Aid for you! Here you go, Mom!

Me: Daddy said you weren't scared of the thunder. Good job!
C: I was just brave! I took charge of the storm. I just put in a few ice cubes in the storm!

C: Hey Mom, my body says it's trying to work!

C: Here is your soup!  It's chocolate & vanilla!
Me: Mmm, yum!
C: Is this my soup?
Me: Yep, it's stinky feet & snail soup!
C: Eww, I don't like snails and stinky feet!  I want food that's real and yummy.  And I want ketchup and mustard on it!

C: Here's your hot dog!  Do you want any snails on it?
Me: I'll pass, thanks.
C: How about apple slices?
Me: On my hot dog?  Um, no thanks.
C: Oh, but I put ketchup and mustard on it!

Me: Are you tired, buddy?
C: No, the Polar Express will be right back!
(It's well past bedtime, but tonight a special movie is playing so the little guy gets to stay up.)

Me: What are those?
C: Gallops!
Me: I think they're reindeer.
C: No, they're gallops!

Me: You look pretty sleepy.
C: No, I'm just breathing.

Gymnastics - C is in red, climbing on the Pac-Man
C: Happy Earth Day, Mom!
Me: It's not Earth Day.
C: But where is the Earth?
Me: We're on it.
C: But I'm on vacation!

C: I'm going to read this sensible book!

Granddad: How many red M&Ms do you have?
C: 1-2-3!
Granddad: How many green M&Ms do you have?
C: 1-2-3-4-5-6!
Granddad: How many M&Ms do you have all together?
C: I have 3, and 3, and 3!

C: I'm still hungry!
Granddad: Do you want a sandwich?
C: I'm not that hungry, I just want chocolate.

C: The bank is where you pay with cards and money!

C: When we get home, will my dad be there?
Me: Not quite. We're going to beat him home.
C: It's a race!  It's a race to be sllllloooooow.

That's My Boy!

Thomas jams
Dad: No advent chocolate for Colton today because he conned a piece out of each of us yesterday.
That's my boy!

C: Hey Dad, I can bounce higher than a monkey chimp!

C: When you are done with your hot chocolate, I will give you sparkly coffee!  With no marshmallows!
Me: No marshmallows?  But I will be sad!
C: But it will have cereal and dip-dip!
Me: Ewww!

C: Stop tickling me, Mom! You are scaring me!

C: Here is a tomato and some coffee!
Me: I don't like tomatoes in my coffee.
C: But I didn't, I put it on a plate.

C: There's Up!
Me: I think it's Toy Story.
C: No, Up!
Me: Okay, I won't argue.
C: Yeah, argue!  Argue yourself!

C: Hey Mom, I'm very happy.
Me: How come you're very happy?
C: Because I don't want to be grumpy or sad. Just very happy!

Colton Is Supervisor Material

Bubble boy!
C: I am too big up here, and you can't come up because I'm so big!

Me: Look, buddy, Christmas lights!
C: Why did you not put them up properly?
Me: What's wrong with them?
C: Why did you not put them up right?
Me: Sigh!  They're fine...

C: Hey Mom, will you play this game with me? First you drop the mara-bles like this, and if you want them to go through, you put them like this. There, I showed you how to play!

Me: In a minute!
C: I want you to have a minute for one minute.
Me: Okay!

Me: What did you get on your lip?
C: Mustard!
Me: I think it's hot chocolate.
C: Yeah, but you still can't drink me.

C: This raspberry has hair on it.
Dad: No, they're just fuzzy.

Me: You have stick-em-up hair today.
C: No, it's curly hair!

C: Stop that dancing!  Because if you keep dancing you will get hurt!
Me: Why?
C: I will stop you dancing! *comes over & pinches my leg*
Me: Ow!
C: Stop that dancing!  Because if you keep dancing your body will get danced up and you will fall down!

C: Do you want squetti with your sauce?  (cooking at the museum)

C: It's dirty and dusty in here, and you can't come in because you will get all dirty!

Putting gloves on the Giving Tree @ the museum

Colton Makes Xzibit Proud

C: When I go to Kathy's & Bridger's house, I'm going to be in a meeting!

Me: Uh-oh, there's a broken down car over there.
C: Huh?
Me: That's why we're stopped.
C: But our house is just around the corner and over the bridge.
Me: That's right. How did you get so smart?
C: That's what big boys do! They knock each other over! And throw oranges at each other!
Me: Uhhh...

C: Look at all the stars, Mom!
Me: Wow! How many do you see?
C: It's too hard for me to count.

C: I have pasta in my car.
Me: You do? What color is your car?
C: Red and black.
Me: With racing stripes?
C: Yeah! Red and yellow and green ones! And a big funnel!
X to the Z would be proud.

C: Hello ma'am!
...
C: Mom, why are you not talking?
Me: I don't want to play the hello ma'am game.
C: Should I say hello pasta?
Me: Only if you're talking to the pasta.
C: No, you're the pasta!

C: I'm gonna eat your delicious dinner!
Me: Then what will I eat?
C: Fish!
Me: Mmm, salmon or sushi?  And what will Daddy eat?
C: Mac and cheese French fries!

Me: Guess what I have?
C: What is it?!
Me: Christmas lights!
C: Oh boy! I can't wait!

Me: What do you want for dinner?
C: Pasta!
...
C: What are you looking for?
Me: Tortellini.
C: But I want pasta!
Me: Tortellini is pasta.
C: Oh. I don't see any tortelzini?
Me: Nope, I think we're out.

C: I'm going to eat this! (helping me make pupcakes, and of course sampling the mix, a handful at a time)
Me: Hey, no coughing on the pupcakes!
C: Well, where can I cough?

C: I am going to build a fire!
Me: Oh thanks, I am very cold.
C: Will you be cold when I build this fire?
Me: Nope, I'll be all better!
C: But I can't leave it on long or it will run out of batteries! (flashlight)
Me: And that would be a shame.

Zipping up the little man's coat & he reaches up to grab at my hair ~
C: Tickle, tickle!

Colton Is Helpful

See Mom! I'm wearing your bracelet!

Last night ~
Me: We're going home to have dinner before hockey.
C: But I don't want dinner.
Me: I'll eat it!
C: Oh thanks, Mom!

This morning ~
Me: You need to put on some pants, or you're gonna have chilly buns!
C: No, I just want eggs for breakfast.

C: Can I open this?  (An advent calendar that he has been impatiently waiting to open)

Me: We need to call Oma today to say Happy Birthday!
C: Is everybody gonna be there?
Me: We'll be there in 3 weeks!

C: I can't find my crayons.
Me: I see some crayons, but where's your tub?
C: In here (takes me to the bathroom)
Me: Wrong tub, buddy.

Dad: B-l-u-e-b-e-r-r-i-e-s are on sale at the store.
Me: But Colton doesn't like blueberries!
C: Yes I do!
Me: You need to help Mama remember them at the store.
C: They're blue, and they have yummy stuff inside.

Me: Yes, boss!
C: I'm not the boss!
Me: Who's the boss?
C: You are!
