Colton on Bills and Bedtime

Interesting way to break off a banana...
C: I don't like going to bed by 8 o'clock.
Me: You don't?  How come?
C: It's rude!  I just want to go bed by 12.
Me: That's too late for Mama, kiddo, sorry.

C: Is Dad back yet?
Me: Nope, not yet.
C: Is he out by the mailbox getting rid of the stupid bills?
Me: *laughing*  I don't think so, but you can go look.

C: Mom!  I skated with two feet today!
Hooray! Dad said he started using both skates, instead of just the one, when they went skating today.

Me: Are you southern?
C: Are you Saturn?  Are you kidding me?

Colton Needs Some Privacy

C: YAAAAAY!  It's gonna be sunny AND rainy today!
Rainbow weather is apparently very exciting!

Me: Are you buckled?
C: No.
Me: Are you buckled yet?
C: No.
Me: Are you buckled yet?
C: JUST GIVE ME SOME PRIVACY!
Me: You don't need privacy.  Privacy means to leave you alone and not look. You need to get buckled.
C: You just need to stop forever!

C: Will you take my training wheels off my bike and push me?
Me: Not tonight, kiddo.  It's almost dark out.
C: But I have headlights!

C: Last night, when we went camping, I got to stay up really early!

C: My-friend-Mom!  Caillou is coming up next!

Colton Goes to the Skate-A-Thon

9/25 - Great skating at the Skate-a-thon!  Colton is really starting to pick up some speed.  He still only 'skates' with his right skate, but hopefully taking his stick away from him for the next 8 lessons will help him start using that left side.  But he probably skating more today than he does in practice, and was less sweaty and tired at the end.  Woot!

Thanks to all that contributed too :)  He raised $280!

Me: Go skate around again with your new friend!
C: I know all about skating!
Me: I know!

C: Where is my green guy?  (friend in a green jersey)
Me: He went home since the skate-a-thon is all over.

C: How 'bout we don't do brains any more.  It's not nice to squeeze people's brains.

Colton Goes to a Tips Game

Soon to be just half of my men!
C: It's foggy and kinda cold, that means it's the first day of fall!

Dad: Do you see the silhouette of the mountains, buddy?
C: Yeah. Do we have to walk there?
Me: No, that would be a really long walk.
C: We'd run out of concrete, and have grass, and gravel, and stuff.

Boy behind us at the stadium:  Do you see way over there?  That's where my mom & dad are!
C: Yeah, well, I don't live here.  I live in Everett!

10pm after the hockey game ~
Dad: Are you tired?
C: No, because I'm not yawning!

Colton Is Done

New *visible* jersey in a sea of blue :)
9/19 hockey update: Colton was pretty tired tonight.  He came off the ice in tears a couple of times to rest a few minutes.  He did make it the full hour, but was *done* at the end.  Lots of skating this time in that slow skate/slide/shuffle that he's got going.  He also got a helmet and pads for his roller blades this week, so hopefully this will help build up the leg muscles and help him learn the skating motion.

C: I am all done.  I am too tired.
Me: You can rest for a few minutes, but there's still 15 minutes left of practice so we can't leave yet.
C: Okay.  Coach says we just have to have some fun.  And off he goes back on the ice!
Coach (to me): He was complaining that he couldn't make it across the ice and I said "Look, we're just here to have fun!"  Guess he was listening!

C: Mom, I love you because you wear fancy shirts.
If that's what we're calling maternity shirts these days...

C: And I will never stop helping everyone in the Earth!

C: What if I drink all the water on the Earth?
Me: What if?
C: Then I will be really strong!

C: Is it warm enough for shorts tonight?
Me: Sure, buddy.
C: But these are good morning shorts. I need some jammy shorts!

Colton's Sunday

Footies & Dad's shoes...on the wrong feet!
Me: Are you dressed yet?
C: No, it needs to get a little bit warmer.

C: I'm hungrier than you! And my tummy will be as big as yours! And it will be bigger than anyone's in the world!

C: I DON'T LIKE IT TO RAIN EVERY DAY!
Yelling at the window...can't say I blame ya, kid!

C: I ate enough food so I can play all day!

Me: The museum doesn't open until 10, so go find something to do for a few minutes.
C: How 'bout I sit here an watch the clock!

C: Try not to get in a crash.
Me: Okay, I'll try.

Colton Does Random

C: I wish you could stay home every day.
Me: I know, bud.  We'd have some fun, huh?
C: Yeah! Are you going to stay home today?
Me: No, sorry, I have to work today.
C: Why?
Me: So we have money to go do fun things.
C: I could come to work with you!
Me: You will?  And will you my work for me?
C: Yeah!

C: Will the Zamboni be coming out?
Dad: No, buddy, it will be later.
C: When the ice is covered in skating?
Poor guy got spooked when the Zamboni came out immediately after public skate ended last time and was convinced it was gonna get him.

C: What if the whole world was covered in roses?
Me: I don't know, what if?
C: Then we would get poked!  That's why we have to have them one at a time!

C: I'm not afraid of blanket darkness, just outside darkness.
Me: Why?
C: Because I can't see what has arrived!

C: I get to choose what we have for dinner!  I hadn't had toast in a long time!

C: Is it time for snack?
Me: What do you want?
C: How about you see what's in the fridge that I want, and I'll hear you from upstairs.

Me: Do you want a burrito or a quesadilla for dinner?
C: I want a quesadilla!  With just cheese and peppers.  You should try it some time. It's good for your body.

C: Is my food done?
Me: No, I haven't even started it yet.
C: Is the water boiling?
Me: You don't need to boil water for quesadillas, buddy.

Colton Shares Baby Duty

C: How about I have one baby and you have one baby and then our tummies will be the same size!

C: I wish you could stay home every day.
Me: I know, buddy.
C: Because you're the best mom in the whole world!  Was that nice of me to say?
Me: Yeah buddy, you're very sweet.
I'm so saving this for you when you're 13 and convinced I am the worst mom ever.

C: Why do we have to have a play date every day?
Me: Did you have fun?
C: Yeah!
Or maybe I just save it til now, when I'm the worst mom ever.

C: What if you had a tail?
Me: I don't know, what if?
C: Then we would be a dog!

Me: Ready for your bath?
C: No. How 'bout I settle down for a minute?

C: I will hug you so long, til the babies start kicking me!

Milk Does a Skater Good

Harvest Moon
C: I might fall and knock my eyeballs out.
Me: Your eyeballs are in there pretty good.
C: Are they pretty glued?
Me: Yes.

C: Can't never have too many oohs!
Thank you, Word World!

Skating with Dad 9/11

Dad: You're not skating fast enough to need your mouth-guard.
C: But I actually don't want to talk.
That's a first.

C: Yeah, and I will drink all the milk from every house, and that will let me skate ahead of all my friends.  And I will skate right in front of everyone!

Skating with Dad 9/11
9/11 Skating with Dad ~  Made it around the rink a whopping 3.5 times in about an hour.  Woo, blazing fast!  But practice is practice, right?

9/12 Hockey practice ~ C sure didn't do a lot of skating tonight.  He mainly let the assistant coaches drag him from one end of the rink to the other.  Sigh.  But other than that, it was a fine practice.

Colton Gets Blades!

Colton bought some rollerblades with his own money ~
C: I want to show Mom what the skates look like on my feet!

C: It's hard to roller skate in the house.
Thank you, Captain Obvious!

Me: Did you have fun building a fort?
C: Yeah, but we didn't.  We built a cave of darkness! It was darker than anything in the world!

C: I want to give you a kiss.
Me: Finish your dinner, buddy, and then you can give me a kiss.
C: But it's a kiss for your whole life!
Me: I appreciate that, but you still have to eat your dinner.
