Colton Wants It Sunny!

Colton helps us in the war against the ivy.
C: Do we have more creamer?
Me: Yep, we have this kind!
C: I bought it for you, but I didn't pay it.

C: This chair is cold!  I want it to be sunny on it!

Dad: ... it's off-putting!
C: And I want pudding!

C: And one time, when I was a crane, I had to load some heavy trucks!

Me: Do you want your coat?  It's pretty chilly out here, buddy.
C: No, I always manage!

C: I need to text something!
(apparently that something was the tire warranty in my glove box)

Colton's collection of snails... all named Socks!

Conversations with Colton

C: Is anything not open?
Me: Like what?
C: Like hockey?
Me: I don't think there's a game tonight, but we're going to go in a few weeks!
C: And I am going to play!  And you can clap when I score!
Me: Yes, we will definitely clap when you score!
C: And then I will get a hockey puck!
Me: You will?
C: Yeah, and I will biff into them and knock them all down!
Me: The hockey pucks?
C: No, the bricks!  And there will be lots of dust!  Blue dust! And red dust!
Me: Wow. That's one exciting hockey game!

Me: We have to go pick up a ferret tomorrow.
C: I have a ferret!
Me: What's your ferret's name?
C: Socks!
Me: Of course.  What color is he?
C: Red! But he's really old and tired.

C: That's DISGUSTING!
Me: What is?
C: You're speeding!
Me: No, I'm going to the speed limit.
C: Did you pass a speed lemon sign?
Me: Yep, I'm doing the speed lemon.

C: I'm cooking in there too!
Me: Are you making dinner?
C: Yeah--a snack and lunch too!
Me: Yum!

Colton Goes Shopping

... and it was exhausting.
Dad: Mama has pupcakes for you!
C: Mama needs to come home now.  Are they blueberry?
Me (via text): No, but they have prinkles!

Me: Did you have a fun day with Daddy?
C: Yeah, but I am gonna wake up tonight to go to work.
Me: What are you going to work on?
C: I have so many coal cars.  And I will BUMP them, and tell them to SHUT UP, and give them a jerk!
Oh my...

Colton Picks a Drink

C: I found something for me to drink!

Uhm, no.  Try again.

Better.

Me: Are you chilly, buddy?
C: Yeah, but I never mind!

Dad: We have real potato fries!
C: No, I don't like that!
Me: They're McDonald (Onieda) fries, buddy, not the potato ones Mom tries to pass off as fries.
C: Oh.  *smile*
Stinker.

C: Don't let the straw go down the drain!
Me: It won't fit, don't worry!
C: Because if it did, I would have to go down after it, and you will have to break the drain to come get me out, and then you will have to build me again.

Colton Gets Dirty

Playing kickball @ Granddad's
C: Stinky feet are spicy!  And sweaty! And I don't like them!

C: Mom, I smell dirty.  I think I need a bath!
I think someone likes his bath paints!

C: In the morning, can we play in the dirt?

Me: Eat your fries!
C: But I did.
Me: Then what are these?
C: These are not fries, they're potatoes!

Me: What's the matter?
C: Nothing's not the matter, that's what's the matter!

Colton Has a Stay-Home Day

 Watching yet another
episode of Thomas!
C: Mom, I want to show you something.  I have two blankies!
Me: Are you feeling better?
C: No, I'm still hot. And I need a long drink of water because my tanks are empty.

Me: Let's go downstairs and watch some Thomas.
C: But Mom, bring my juice! But be careful; it's really full!

C: It's light out, so I want to go take a bath!
Cuz he somehow got dirty between now (7am) and last night's bath?

C: Dad, I woke up tonight!
(Translation: he woke up when it was still dark)

Adding the vanilla ~
C: I smell it!
Me: What does it smell like?
C: Cookies!
Thanks to Totally Thomas' Toy Depot
for a new copy of "the news!" (catalog)
Me: What's your favorite kind of cookies?
C: This kind! (pumpkin currant)

C: Mom, can I taste it? (flour)
Me: Sure. It's probably not very tasty.
C: But I have a whole handful! And it is tasty! (said through a mouthful, puffing flour everywhere)

C: This is old and dirty and we need to throw it away.
Me: It's the back of my phone and it's not old & dirty!

C: Mom, in no minutes I won't be done!  In no seconds, I won't be done. In no moments, I won't be done!  I'm going to stay in this bath!

C: Can you find this Thomas? Mom, can you find this Thomas? Mom, are you looking for this Thomas?
Me: Ugh, stop asking for ten seconds!
C: Coffee will make you feel much better! And happy! I'm not frustrating!

Colton Is Unhappy

Colton is running a temp tonight, so we came home instead of running around doing our normal Thursday things.

C: Mom, I'm so unhappy!
Me: I know.. let's see if we can find some medicine for that fever.
C: But I don't need medicine because I'm not unhappy anymore!

C: Molly has a fever, so she is resting her wheels.  She is so unhappy!

Thank you Elmo, Cookie Monster & Big Bird (paints) for making an unhappy evening a little bit better.

Colton Wants a Sister

Dad sits C down and asks if C would like a sister ~
C: Yes! (without hesitation)
Dad: Even if she’s older?
C: Yes!
Dad: What would you do with her?
C: I’d show her my beautiful truck with those blocks in it!

Colton Goes to the Park

Me: What would you like for breakfast?
C: Candy!

C: Hey Mom, I'm too slow.
Me: How come?
C: I'm too slow because I need a drink of water from upstairs.

Me: Where did my little boy go?
C: I'm right here!  And I'm going to grow big and tall like my dad.  He has really long feet.

C: Mom, I want you to hold me on that bar!  And you can hold someone else too!

C: Mom, give me my sweatshirt so I can get his head out.

C: Mom, this grape has a stem on it! It's an apple-grape!

C: I'm plowing so many rocks!
C: I found something crunchy in my mac & cheese. I didn't like it.  I like crunchy apples!

Colton is wheeling around a snail ~
Me: What is your snail's name?
C: Socks!
Me: So you have a kitty and a snail named Socks?
C: But the kitty isn't here.

C: I'm going to be a spider!
Me: Wow, the mountains are pretty today!
C: Yeah!  They have snow and they're gonna have a Christmas tree!

C: Mom, I'm gonna come sit with you.  I am out of steam. And I am very sad because I used up all my steam.

    C: I'm washing the leaves!
Watching me put together this blog ~
C: Hey, there's me still at the park!

Me: You have stick-em-up hair today.
C: Yeah, and I like it!  And I want to keep it!

Me: We're going to watch Zoe for a few days.
C: And then we will have three dogs. And we will keep her.  Nanan can get a new dog.

Is There Such a Thing as Too Sparkly?

Halloween candy + sour cream mustache from dinner
C: This juice is too sparkly!
Say it isn't so!

C: I have a schmooper idea!
Me: You do?  I think you are a schmooper boy!
C: I'm not a schmooper boy! I'm Colton! Call me Colton!

Forgot my water bottle at the gym tonight ~
C: Mom, are you going to go back and get your water bottle?
Me: I'll see if someone turns it in to the lost and found tomorrow.
C: Sarah will go get it for you!
Thanks, Sarah!!

C: Hey Mom, I want an apple.
Me: Sure, we can share one when we get home.
C: And I'm going to eat it ALL!
Me: You are? You don't want to share?
C: You can have the stem!
Me: Oh, thanks.
