Beach Bums

Colton makes a "recogniser" (from Tron) out of Legos
Dad: Let's wipe your face. You have chocolate allll over it.
C: You can just lick it off.

C: Did you see that car with the fire picture on it? Is that pretty silly?
Me: The one with flames?
C: No, not flames! It's not a real fire!

Me: Jensen is pretty full of beans this morning.
C: That means we can eat him!

Itty bitty seastar!

C: Everytime we come back from being somewhere we need to go to the ice cream shop.

Me: What do you want for breakfast?
C: I need something cold to eat because it's so hot outside.
Me: Okay, what do you want?
C: Cupcakes.
Me: Those aren't cold or for breakfast. Nice try though.

C finishes his ice cream ~
C: Can I still have my cupcake?

Colton Does Father's Day

C: Mom, my head hurts.
Me: I'm sorry, buddy.  I don't know what to do for it.
C: My dad usually eats my brains.

C: I have an idea of what we should have for breakfast!
Me: We're having a special breakfast today.
C: What is it?
Me: Orange rolls with frosting on top.
C: I have an idea for an even specialer breakfast!
Me: Yeah?  What?
C: Strawberry-blueberry-ootmeal-shortcake!
Me: Well, we don't have any strawberries, or blueberries, or shortcake.
C: But we do have ootmeal!  (it's not oatmeal, it's ootmeal)

C: Is it nap time?
Me: For the babies, yes.
C: Is it nap time for you and Dad? My dad yells at the babies when they sleep and it's not nap time.
Dad would like me to clarify that he doesn't actually yell at them.  Well, duh.

C: My Nanan can fix my move-by-itself-James!
Dad: She can, huh?
C: Yeah, because she's a magical!

C: Why do I always have to go to bed?  I'm gonna be SO BORED!
Me: You're supposed to be bored so you can sleep!

Colton Tells the Truth

This looks like trouble...
C: Dad, my brain is staying hurting!

C: Do you like that I got that (dream catcher in my car) for you?
Me: Yes, I do.
C: And whenever you see it, you can just think of me!
Me: Good idea.
C: And if you don't have anything else to think of, then you must not be very happy.
Me: But if I look at the dream catcher, I'll be happy?
C: Yeah! We should put them in everyone's car!
Me: So everyone can think of you?
C: Yeah! Even the bad guys!
*sigh*

C: I want a car like that!
Me: Like what?
C: One with a tail!

C: My balloon popped! *sob*
Me: It's just a small hole, you can still play with it.
C: No, it popped! *sob*
Me: I can't find the hole, can you?
C: It's right here, where those slinders (slivers) are!

Nanan: What were you and your mom arguing about?
C: She said I was complaining when I was telling the TRUTH!
Me: You were telling the truth, but you were still complaining.
C: My mom never tells the truth!
Nanan: I think she does tell the truth.
C: My mom always tells the truth wrong and I always tell it right!

Me: How'd you get so big and strong?
C: I ate lots of carrots.
Me: But you said you didn't like carrots.
C: I almost do.

C: Mom? Why do you have to zoe? (sew)

Colton on Short Sleeves

C: It's not nice to hurt people's feelings.
Me: You're right; it's not.
C: So I will just tell every Starbucks to close when you get there.
He was mad because I didn't buy him something to eat right after dinner, but had the nerve to get a coffee.

C: I'm just laying in the sunbeam because it is sunny. And I put on a short sleeve shirt and short sleeve pants.

C: Did you know that Jamie cut his finger today?
Me: Yeah.  Poor guy.
C: I hope it grows back!

C: How 'bout you win the race tomorrow? Just run your fastest so you can win!
Me: Sure, no prob, bud.

C: I really miss Dad today.
Me: Aww, how come?
C: Because he's not here.

C: Mom? Maybe some time you can sleep in my room.
Me: You'd like that, huh?
C: Yeah, when the brothers don't have to cry in the night, you could sleep there.

Smells like Camping

C: The next time that we go to the Slurpee store, we’re buying M&Ms!

Me: I sure have cute boys!
C: Do you like my haircut?
Me: I do!
C: And why is yours so long?

C: I think this is too much traffic.
Me: I agree!  What should we do about it?
C: I think we should just take the back lane.
Me: I would like to, but we need to make it to the exit first.

Me: You can see Jordan on Saturday if you go to Aly's party with me, or you can stay here with Nanan and the babies.
C: I love you both, so I will just have to think!

C: I smell something like camping!

Me: Sunday is Dad's Day.
C: When is Kid's Day?
Me: Every day is Kid's Day.  Your birthday is Kid's Day.

C: Will you get me an iPod when I'm a dad?
Me: You can get your own iPod when you're a dad.

C: You can get me Rocky--that train I don't have--for my birthday.
Me: I already have something else in mind for your birthday.
C: What is it?
Me: I'm not telling you.
C: Why?
Me: I want it to be a surprise.
C: Okay, I will just tell Dad to get me Rocky.

Me: What are you doing?
C: Whispering in his ear.
Me: What were you saying?
C: I was trying to say a bad word.
Me: What bad word?
C: I said 'poop' in his ear!

Radio: … and now you’re with Dan the Man, not David the Douche.
C: HA! David the Dude!
Oh good, he didn't hear that correctly!

Coltons Are Wonderful Things!

C: Every time I hurt myself, it turns to rubber!
The wonderful thing about Tiggers
Is Tiggers are wonderful things
Their tops are made out of rubber
Their bottoms are made out of springs

C: I need a flag for my castle.  Do we have any flags?
Me: I don't think so.  We should have kept the ones from one of your class trips.
C: But I need a flag for my castle to be finished!
Me: Here.
C: But that's a paper airplane.
Me: And now it's a flag.
C: How did you do that?!
Me: Magic.

C: If you go to Yellowstone, you have to sleep in hotels!

C: All the babies you grow in your tummy are the ones we have to take care of.
Me: Yep, but I’m done growing babies.
C: Why?
Me: Because we have enough babies, don’t you think?
C: No.

C: And for your birthday, Dad is gonna take you to a kitchen where you watch people cook.
Me: Oh? The place where they make a volcano out of the onion and there’s a big fire?
C: No, they cook without the big fire there. You are going to sit in the kitchen and watch them cook.
Me: Is it called the Steakhouse?  The Japanese Steakhouse?
C: No, it’s called Red Robin! And we’re gonna eat there too!

C: When I'm an adult, I'm gonna have a 3-seat, no--a 4-seat car that I can drive the babies around in and then I'm gonna have a 1-seat car that I can drive Mom in!
Dad: Wouldn't that be a 2-seat car, buddy?

Colton Won't

C: Mom hurted my feeling!
Dad: Which feeling did she hurt?
C: I don't know.

C: Since I'm the oatmeal guy, I'm gonna have oatmeal for breakfast!

C: I want my Yellowstone movie.  After all, I've been there.
Me: I've been there a couple of times.  Did you know that Dad & I went there after we got married?
C: And I want to get married too!
Me: Yeah?  Please wait until you're at least 18.
C: I don't want to wait that long!  I never want to wait that long!

Me: I think Nanan is right.  You can earn one minute of iPod time for every minute you weed with us.
C: I won't! I never like weeding!
Me: You've never done it before, so you don't know that you don't like it.
C: I did it at Oma & Opa's and I don't like it.
Me: Oh well, then you don't want any iPod minutes.
C: That just hurts my feelings!

Me: Bedtime!
C: I won't!  I never like to sleep! I'm not going to sleep!
Me: Knock yourself out.  But you're still going to bed.
C: Why do I always have to go to bed?
Mommy needs her sanity.

D is yelling at his toys ~
C: What is up with him?

Me: What is this animal? It starts with a W and it howls like this: oooowwooooh!
C: A walrus?

Reading the book on Mt Rushmore ~
C: And there's a picture of Mt Rushmore! ... And there's a picture of Mt Rushmore! ... And did you know I went to Mt Rushmore? ... And there's a picture of Mt Rushmore!

Colton Plays Soccer

"Turkey game" - kids had to steal Coach's feathers
C: Can I take a nap when I get home?  I'm exhausted!
Twist my arm!

C: Mom, I have to tell you something.
Me: What?
C: My leg hurts.
Me: I know, that's what you said.
C: I think it will just be okay.

And Colton is running *away* from the ball
C: Mom, I just took a one minute nap!  I usually take five minutes, but today was just one.
Lucky me?

"Kids love soccer!"
C: Mom, you can tell Dad that it's okay if he gets Rocky for me for Christmas.  Or my birthday!

Colton & Bridger watching Star Wars
C: Mom, I have to tell you something.
Me: What?
C: I don't like it when Bridger gets to pick the movie first.
Me: You can't tell me that any more.
C: Never ever?
Me: Not again. (He had already mentioned it about eleventy billion times in the last 5 minutes)

Climbing safely!
C: Do you wish we could go back to our old preschool?
Me: Aren't you excited for kindergarten?
C: I am! But I want to go to preschool again some day.

Colton Goes Camping

C: Why does Dad have to watch hockey every day?
Me: I don't think he's watching hockey right now. The last game he watched was the playoffs.
C: Are the Coyotes still playing?
Me: No, buddy.  They're done.
C: Ask Dad why they aren't still playing.
Me: They didn't win, so that's why they aren't playing.  The Stanley Cup is over, so there isn't any more hockey.
C: But I didn't get to see them play!  Why did the Coyotes not win enough?
Me: I don't know, buddy.
C: Maybe they forgot to score.
Me: Maybe.
C: See, I know the answer!

C: I don't ever want to get shots again, remember?
Me: I know.  But you had to get shots so you can go to kindergarten.
C: Why do I have to learn more things?

C: It hurts when I pull my jammies over my shot.

Me: Did you have fun camping?
C: Yeah!
Me: What was your favorite part?
C: We parked by the river and got to play on the beach!

Playing on the beach ~
C: Look, Dad, I made a water system!

Me: Bath night tonight!
C: No, I never like baths! I'm never gonna take one!
Me: Yep, it's time for a bath.  And you can show Dad the new way you wash your hair.
C: DAD!  I will show you how I use my goggles. I just need help with the shampoo.
Dad: Okay!  Go take a bath.

Colton States the Obvious

The tongue helps in the building process
Me: Are you sad that you won't have preschool any more?
C: No, because I get to go to kindergarten!
Me: Well, I'm sad that I probably won't get to work there every week.
C: You can just work in my next class, so you won't be lonely.

C: You have to guess where I hid the jack.
Me: In the middle.
C: Why do you always have to know?

C: Can I have a cookie?
Me: If I get a bite.

Me: Hey, do you want this last piece of fish?
C: No. That can be your dessert!
Me: Wait a minute...

C: We should talk.
Me: About?
C: About having two screen times.
Me: This will be a short conversation.  I will say no.
C: But we should talk about it.

C: I really am tired of waiting to go to the train store.

Me: Are you excited to go camping?
C: YES!
Me: What's your favorite part about camping?
C: Looking at the stars!
Me: That's a good part.
C: And once, we saw stars! And they were in the sky!

C: I really wish you could go camping.
Me: I know, but somebody needs to stay and watch the babies.
C: Nanan can watch them!
Me: If only it were that easy.  I'll come soon, bud.  I promise.

Me: Did you know that Layla has a baby at home, about your brothers' age?
C: I did know that a bit.

Me: Hey, watch the baby head!
C: I know!
Me: If you knew, then you wouldn't do that.
C: I know, but I just can't stop.

C: I'm a bit hungry.  What can I have?
Me: I just had some tortilla chips.  Want some?
C: Can I have some cheesy chips?
Me: Nachos?
C: Yeah! I really am hungry enough for some nachos!
