Music Man

We sent C to play his keyboard for a little bit. All was quiet
so I went up to check, and found him hard at work writing music.
Some treble clef practice
Me: Are you going to help me make squash fries for dinner?
C: I never like squash fries!
Me: But you helped pick it out.
C: It's for nights when you are alone!
...
Me: Did you like them?
C: They are fine.
...
Dad: Those fries were pretty yummy!
C: I almost liked them!

C: And one day we had a substitute in the library!  And one of the characters was the lady that unlocks the gate!

C: I am really not very happy that it won't be Easter soon.

C: I have to watch the presidents!  They are showing their percentages!

Museum Sunday

C: Did you know that you can't drive in Seattle? People are parking in the middle of the intersection!  When we go to Seattle, we'll have to take a train.  I saw it on the news!
Google the "Mercer Mess."

C: You have to help me get to sleep!
Me: Good night.
C: But I need some help sleeping!
Me: Good night, Colton!

C: I had these AirFaces as a treat at school!  (AirHeads)

C: Is it 55 degrees?
Me: Yes.
C: So it's just one inch higher than just a minute ago!

C: These might be too small.  There's a baby on them.
Referring to the Gerber baby on his footie jammies.

C: Every Sunday that's not a race Sunday is a museum Sunday!

C: I can't brush my teeth tonight.  I'm too tired.

C: I can't get dressed before breakfast because I get too distracted upstairs!
#littleboyproblems

Me (to Dad): D would be my son; he's eating the frosting and J would be yours; he's after the cake.
C: I'm in to the whole thing!

Happy 1st Birthday, little brothers!!

What Colton Really Learns...

C: Remember the last time our tummies were sick? This is like that, only there's a VIRUS in it!
Poor C has a cold.

Colton is Iron Man @ top left
C: There's the Xfinity truck!
Me: How do you know about Xfinity?
C: I just do.
Me: What is Xfinity?
C: It's a place where you can hook up and download videos.

Bridger, Jordan & Colton @ Skate Night

Me: What letter did you talk about today?
C: X.  And you know what starts with X?
Me: What?
C: X-ray.
Me: And xylophone.
C: And Xfinity!
/facepalm.

Colton on Cuddles

C: I'm kinda busy this weekend, amn't I? (aren't/am I?)
Me: Yeah.
C: That's why I don't cuddle very much.  So I'm gonna give you a hug.

C: Aren't you excited that it's an early release day?
Me: Why are you so excited?
C: So I get to cuddle with you at a different time.

C: But I don't want pizza for dinner! Pizza isn't healthy for you.
Me: Chicken and fries aren't healthy for you either.
C: Yes, they are!  Only treats are healthy!

C: I'm SOOOOO hungry!
Me: It's sooooo not dinner time yet.
C: But I can't even hold it!

C: Mom? I love you.  I made you this postcard!  It says I love you on it.

Watching the debates ~

C: I'm giving you an example of what President Obama should do [as he body slams D]. Whenever someone falls on him, he should lift him up and go on top of him. And I will give him some Iron Man gloves to help him too.

C: I want the battle between America and the other guys. (aka the Olympics)
Me: This is the battle for the President of the United States. We can either have Romney or Obama.
C: What about…George Washington?
Me: He’s dead. He lived a long time ago.

C: Who is going to win?  When are they going to fight?
LOL!

Colton Is on to Me

Me: DON'T DROP THE BABY!
C: Mom? I'm hungry!  When can I have lunch?
Me: You can't have anything right now.
C: Why?
Me: Because you dropped the baby.
C: I decided to stop dropping the baby.
No babies were harmed in the making of this post.

C: Why does there have to be a leak?!  'Cause I'm DONE with only having pancakes, waffles, and milk & cereal for breakfast.
Major plumbing disaster at our house has left us without a stove & microwave.

C: Is today a donut day?

Me: I was very impressed with how much you ran at your school's fund run!
C: And did I run so much that some of that money comes to me?
Me: No, it all goes to the school, bud.
C: BUT IT'S NOT FAIR! YOU'RE JUST MAKING ME UNHAPPY THAT PEOPLE DON'T JUST GIVE ME MONEY!  *sob*
C had a rough day.

C: Why do I always have to have a bribe to do things I don't want to do?
Kid is too smart.

Colton Goes to the Hockey Game

C: This is such an instructive time!

C: Aren't you glad I'm doing something constructive instead of just keeping asking when it is time to go to the game?

C: I'm doing all this homework!
(He's coloring and has decided it is homework)

Me: Do you see the moon?
C: Yeah!  I can even see what it's made out of!
Me: And what is it made out of?
C: Rocks.

C: I wish I had a really long net so I could catch the moon.
Me: What would you do with the moon if you caught it?
C: We'd put it outside, and we'd bring it inside on windy days.

C: If we had a million fireflies inside my room, they'd look like stars, and be just like aerospace!

Wearing his "fall" shirt
Me: Did you have fun tonight?
C: Not really.
Me: How come?
C: Because the other team didn't win.
Me: The other team did win.
C: I mean our team didn't win and got shutted out.

C: We need to bring in a goalie fighter! Guess what he does!
Dad: He fights other goalies.
C: And he has lots of pads.
Dad: Like the sumo fighters?
C: Only he'd have so many pads that he wouldn't be seen!
Dad: Oh, so a ninja-goalie-fighter?
C: Yeah!

C: You can sleep on my bottom bunk.
Me: No thanks, I think I'll sleep in my own bed tonight.  That sounds really nice.
C: But I will be SO BORED without you here!

Thank you, Auntie Melissa!

The Nightly News

C: Can we go to the train store?
Me: We don't have time before school.
C:  But I don't like going to school most days.  I'm not going to go every day!

Dad: You going to get up?
C: I'm trying, but it's really hard.

C: Will you still love me when you go out tonight?
Me: Of course I will! You never stop loving your kids.  Ever.
Break my heart!

C: I need to watch the weather!  Jeff Weather (Renner) is on, and that guy is Jim.
(Jeff Renner & Jim Forman)

C: Did you know that people [in Nevada] also speak Nuevan?

C: This sauce was pretty licky!

C: This 'S' always has to be in the front or I have them on sideways or backwards.

C: Maybe you can just put him down so I can snuggle with you!

Super impressed with his worksheet!

News Boy

New bones from Grandma
C: What if every person was a person?
Me: Every person is a person.
C: What if everything is a person?
Me: That would be a lot of people.

C: I know another way to get to that coast place with the hurricane.
Me: Florida?
C: We could also use cheetah powers!
Me: Do you know where cheetahs come from?
C: Where?
Me: Africa.
C: So we could take a plane to Africa, and ride the cheetahs across Africa, and if there is an ocean? (I nod) Then we take a ferry across and then will we be at Florida?

C: Do we get to choose what we have for dessert?
Me: Not tonight.
C: Why?
Me: Because it's almost bedtime and you just finished eating five minutes ago.
C: But I am going to be starving during the night if I don't get to have dessert!

C: When winter comes, the snow will fall and freeze all the fires, and then when they unfreeze, the water will come and put out the fires.

C: Did you know that the fires have also been firing the road?

C: And on the fourth week in Seattle the weather is going to be pretty not good.

Today's fashion statement

Colton on This & That

C: ... and here's its shooters!
Me: I don't like shooters.
C: But it's just pretend.  They aren't real.
Me: Yes, they are and that's why I don't like them.
C: But Mom.  If you don't like spiders, you can get a shovel and take down their web.
Me: Mmkay.

C: I'm glad that house is for sale!  Then we can take all-ALL of our stuff and move it next door!
Me: I don't think we can downsize to a one-bedroom, bud.

C: It's okay if you a little bit-sometimes-accidentally call me banana.

C has folded all the blankets ~
Me: Do you want to fold the big green one?
C: No, because it's too big and I'd have to flap it.

C: It's King 5 news time! It's King 5 news time!  What channel is King 5 news? Hurry, Mom! What channel?

C: When I am king, I'm gonna declare that every day be donut day!

C: Grandma Lori? How come you planned so much time at the beach if you knew I was going to get so wet?

There Is No Dinner

Me: There is no dinner because I ate it.  Burp.
C: STOP!  YOU ARE BEING WRONG, AND I AM TELLING THE TRUTH!  DAD IS COOKING REAL DINNER!
Me: Nope.  There is no dinner because I ate it all.  Do you see any dinner?
C: No.
Me: Right.  Because I ate it.
C: Mom is being actually wrong!  Why do you like being actually wrong?

Dad: Are you going to watch the movie?
C: I can't.  I'm being too distracted by the babies!
He is his mother's son.

Me: So, did you get to play instruments or sing in music today?
C: We only get to play instruments when we are quiet and pay attention really well.
Me: That sounds like a good rule.
C: But I really a lot already know how to play that drum-thing.

Dad: Are you feeling better, buddy?
C: Yeah. But that sun is hurting my eye a little because it's warming my eye right there.

Dad: Is that boy in your class?
C: Yeah.
Dad: Do you remember his name?
C: No.
Dad: Why don't you say bye?
C: I'm feeling a little too shy.

Colton is double-fisting samples of a couple of donuts from Frost ~
Me: Which donut do you like best?
C: This one, because of all  the chocolate!
... he says of the bacon maple bar.

C: I want that kind of car because it has a pretty pink steering wheel!

Dad: How are you feeling this morning?
C: All better! I'm just a little, tiny bit not feeling well.  Maybe like this much. (he pinches)

C: I gave Mom a hug, so she's happier. Was that nice of me?
We had a disagreement about leaving the gym tonight.

Sarah & Jordan beat us to the gym ~
C: That's really not even a little bit fair!
