Snow Coltons

C: I'm thinking we should have spaghetti for dinner!
Dad: I haven't pulled anything, but I think your mom said something about breakfast for dinner.
C: YAY!

Me: How's your nose today?
C: It's not any better. I have an idea! I think you need to take real good care of me.

Spring snow - 3/22/13
C: And maybe we can get a cute little puppy!
Me: Mmm, not while we have babies.
C: Well, when I'm the parent, I'm just going to have three puppies!
Me: Are you going to have three kids too?
C: No, I'm just going to have FOUR dogs!

C: Do you know why there wasn't much snow out there?
Me: Why?
C: Because most of it was in a ball.

Colton Gives a Ticket

("Mom I am mad at u")
Because I wouldn't let him dig for bones, in the dog yard,
with his hockey stick.... because ew.
C hands me the above note ~
C: Mom, I am mad at you, and I am very sorry.

Jensen thwaps Colton with a toy ~
C: OW!  Mom, this is why I only wanted one baby!
Me: Well, we can't give one back now.

Still working on smiling nicely...
Silvertips game 3/17
Me: Wow, look at it hail!
C: YAY!  That means it's getting Christmaser!

Colton on Evolution

C: Who made the Earth?
Me: I don't know. A bunch of gasses exploded and made the sun, the moon, and the stars.
C: Who was the first person on the Earth?
Me: Depends on who you ask.  The bible says God made Adam, and he was the first one.  Scientists say we gradually evolved and became humans.
C: But the dinosaurs were here first.
Me: Right.
C: And then the presidents.
Me: Yes.
C: And then the builders.
Me: The builders came before us?
C: Yeah, they had to build houses and cars so we can drive.
Me: Oh, right.  And then us?
C: Yeah.  Only you came before me because you're older than me.
Me: Are you calling me old?
C: Yeah!

Colton on Healthy Living

Two miles on blades AFTER an hour
of hockey this morning!
C: Mom, I found an apple seed!  We should go outside and plant it.
Me: Mmm, we don't really have room for another apple tree.  Go ahead and throw it away.
C: I'm allowed to go outside.

Growing wall 'o art.
C on raw collard greens ~
C: It's delicious! It's like I'm a lady bug!

C: When you see me running like this, it's because I'm moving my muscles.  Do you like it when I move my muscles?  We're having a very healthy day!

Then he proceeded to do "push-ups," which looked more like jump squats to me, but whatever. And he keeps getting into the weights, and then showing off his shoulder to us and having us admire how big his muscles are.

C: I'm wearing my handsome shirt!  Do you like being handsome too?
Me: Girls are usually referred to as pretty, but sure.

Colton Does President's Day

C: The red ones are roses, the yellow ones are dandelions, and the orange ones are buttercups.
Me: Those are all my favorites!

C: And you know why I brought you flowers?
Me: Why?
C: Because I was about to marry you!  Because it was President's Day.

C: Mom? Will you dress pretty tomorrow?
Me: Uhm, sure?
...
Dad: The reason you have to dress pretty is because there is a wedding on the stage Colton made, and you need to attend.

C: Sometimes, when people don't feel well, some people make things to make them feel better.

Colton made me a picture, brought me flowers, and was going to make me a book--because my Kindle is not considered a book. ;)

Colton Does Valentine's

Colton's valentine to his dad.  LOL!
C: Dad, why are you wearing this ring?
Dad: It's my wedding ring.
C: What wedding did you get it at?
Dad: The one where I married your mother....

Colton Has a Feeling

C: I'm freezing, Mom!
Me: You are?  I'm fine, so maybe you should put on some socks.
C: I'm just feeling 31 degrees!

C: The Flyers have a penalty.  That's like a time-out.
Me: Thanks, bud.  But I know what a penalty is.

Me: My friend thought we could put together a memory book about Cartman.  Would you like to help me with that?
C: Yeah!  So we can remember him and always have him as our dog.

RIP Cartman 2/3/13

Colton on Groundhog's Day

Testing out what was supposed to be the
twin's bed for camping, only it's way too small...
but nicely fits a folded Colton.
Me: Looks like we're gonna have an early spring.
C: Is the groundhog magic?
Me: No, but he does always seems to know.

C: We should have an early lunch since we're gonna have an early summer, right?

C: Since spring is coming early, my birthday will be earlier too!  Can you not wait?

Me: You get a 5-minute penalty for fighting at hockey.
C: Actually, you only get a 2-minute penalty for fighting.
Me: Not at your level.  And it's 2 minutes for roughing, and 5 for fighting... so you get 5.

Colton, Culinary Expert

Riveting children's programming
On Circus Animal Cookies ~
C: Which kind do you like best?
Me: They taste the same to me.  Do you think they taste different?
C: The pink one tastes lemoner.  That's a special kind of lemon that makes it taste yummy.  And the white one tastes orangener.  And it has a special kind of orange that makes it taste good.

Dad: It seems like you don't have your listening ears on today.
C: They're just recharging.
Me: You need to charge them during the night so they're ready by the next day.
C: Sometimes they need a little longer.  Like through breakfast to charge.

C: And when I earn 100 rewards, I'm gonna choose to go to Phoenix so we can go to a Coyotes game and get a Coyotes flag!

C: OW!  My rib hurts.  I guess I'm gonna need a new skeleton, right?

Talking to Dad about what the twins were up to that morning ~
C: How do you remember all that stuff?
Dear Colton, here is your introduction to girl brain.

C: Every time you turn off my light, it makes my brain fall apart a little bit.

Colton Is Buff

C: What can I do right now?
Me: Dad and I are busy, so you'll need to find something to do.
C: I can just lift some weights.

C: Before we lift some weights, we need to exercise!
Me: I already went running this morning.
C: Okay, so I'll just run up these stairs two times.

C: Mom, my muscles aren't getting very big!  (showing me his shoulder out the neck of his shirt)

C: And when I am big and strong like the Hulk, I can just lift this house like it's 100 lbs!

C: This snow tastes good! (ice collected on his hockey socks)
Me: Ew, don't eat that.
C: Why?
Me: Because that's ice that has hockey player cooties all over it.
